Had to go up town today so took the opportunity to have Japanese for lunch and then when I asked she who must be obeyed what she wanted for dinner she wanted Wontons. So it turned into an all Asian affair for Mondays meals…fine by me! I used some left over roast pork and carrot laced with fresh ginger chilli and a little soy for the filling and used shop bought skins as they are so easy and quick.
Pork and Cabbage Rolls. This was a nice change for dinner the other night. I was going to make wontons but then went for this instead. Minced pork with all the good stuff like garlic, ginger, chilli, lemon grass, S&P. A little curry paste and lime juice. Roll in the steamed leaves then into the steamer. A quick pan sear and serve on rice with a nice oyster sauce…yum cha!
While the catagory 1 cyclone Ita was not a threat to our existence we do like to treat ourselves when we go through them. This one was just a bit windy and very wet but it still warranted these Peking style Duck Pancakes. Having no discipline or boundaries we put what ever we want in them but the idea is still Chinese. We had cucumber, sliced pear, chilli, ginger and succulent slices of duck breast with red current jelly. Paula even got on-board and made the Mandarin pancakes.
